It’s been a while that I made the last post. Well, I think you don’t want to know the reason, right? Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. Rapidshare has been known throughout the internet for long. Long enough to make itself become quite famous like TPB. As you might probably know, Rapidshare has been named for its shittiness and unreliability.
So I decided to look into this matter deeper and found that it’s “SHIT”. As the result, I stitched everything together to explain how “SHITTY” this site is.

1. Slowness
Probably the most common thing you may find when using Rapidshare service. Its slowness made me wanna go stab someone, rip their body apart, and throwing off to the river. Seriously, even so-called lightening-fast internet from Comcast can’t beat its slowness.
2. Waiting Time
Yeah, Rapidshare gives so many waiting time before actual download. So much that I could go pee and have a snack break. Also, you have to wait for additional 15 mins or so after the last download. How cool is that, it gives me even more time to grill a chicken and make a salad.
3. The Premium Thingy
Very smart. They reduced the ads on their site and start premium member thingy system instead. It’s bullshit and even more bullshit. So unless you are as rich as Bill Gates or and a Genie along your side, then the premium member is just expensive for unknown reason. Well, at least there some site that sells you cheaper premium account. But still, it’s bullshit.
4. The Creator of Rapidshare
Damn you, creator. For created such a shitty file hosting site. You can go to hell along with your Rapidshit. I bet this site was created by old Nazi German dude.
5. The Site Name
Honestly, why it even called Rapidshare. I suggest it should be called Slugishshare or Turtleshare.
6. The Uploader
All right, if you look through the internet pages and come across on certain forum that give away pirated software. You will see that many people use Rapidshare as their main file hosting site. Yeah, those guys can go to hell also or at least got eat by crocodile. True that they mostly do it for premium account or too lazy to find a better site. So, curse you uploader. You are a pain in the ass just like the creator of Rapidshare.
7. Limits
Too many limits, not just the timing but also many many things that I couldn’t tell. Again, unless you owned their premium account or have a secret relationship with the owner of Rapidshare. Don’t expect to be happy.
8. They Rip you off
Just as I mentioned on number 3, it’s not just expensive but they try to rip you off. Think about it, your hard earned money that could feed you for a month goes to their pocket just because you want to download a couple files. Now that’s truly dogshit.

I would never buy a movie either. I watch about 3 movies a week, sometimes HD movies, that would be a lot of money to buy. And I don’t want to watch a movie more than once, i don’t need them on discs.
I wanted to buy a premium account, when I realized there is a 5GB daily limit. Now that’s ridiculous! I will never pay for that crap!

Good article… I predict Rapidshare in about 1–3 years time will be overtaken by Megaupload as the king of file hosting. Many people around the world for what ever reasons they have, may not be able to get a premium account to RS. The download limit for premium users… used to be 10gb, then 2gb now 5gb a day. Why? because they want you to buy more than one premium account of you require to download more. more chance for that happening if the cap is at 2gb than 10gb.

The guys who run the u3 software central use RapidSloth to host most of their free apps. I just want to get mozilla thunderbird but i get all those other rubbish instead.
When I host files I use the public feature of Dropbox. It treats your files as web pages and therefore you get absolutely 0% nags and waiting time. Even better than mediafire.
I can relate to really hating any company that advertises their services with so much false propaganda. And they rarely deliver what they promise. YES RAPIDSHARE SUCKS.
I got a premium account with them one time just to get a rare tv program from the past that was many gigs in size. It took forever. Amazingly I never saw speeds that even the FREE MEGAUPLOAD gave me. I have been so impressed by megaupload that I keep a premium account with them. Once in awhile I see slight fluctuations in the speed. But for the most part I can use full bandwidth of my broadband if necessary. And unlimited downloads should be with every host. No Rapidshare. They have become rotten and pretentious by default and use the typical excuses for “controlling” bandwidth issues. Looks to me like they have taken up with capitalism. Its like the family doctor who overbooks patients causing crowded waiting rooms, furiously waiting patients, and crappy service. All for the sake of more profit. That is essentially Rapidshare.

Rapidshare Premium accounts are a joke…You are limited to 5GB per day for bandwidth (downloads), and up to 500GB of storage space. Competitors like MegaUpload’s Premium accounts are UNLIMITED!
Rapidshare intentionally places all sorts of restrictions and limitations to “encourage” you to pay for Premium accounts. Mainly because storage/bandwidth costs money, and they don’t want to invest in any more in it…Why don’t they invest in a third-party storage/content provider like Akamai?

Rapidshare is really a pile of crap nowadays.
I remember a couple of years when it used to be the bomb. But slowly they kept bringing more and more restrictions and making it even slower. You struggle to even start a download of a file during peak hours often you get the message “servers are too busy try again” or the new one ” too many users are downloading the file please become a premium member”, and even if you get on you struggle to get a download speed above 25k. Takes about an hour to download a 100 mb file around half of that during unpeak hours. I even became a premium member a year ago to counter this but I was limited to 2 Gb a day. Fucking outrageous, I could download the same as a free user.
Megaupload is where it’s at. Speeds of 700k+ for free users, no limits, big files so no need to unrar. Glad to see most links nowadays are on here and also on other faster sites such as hotfile/mediafire etc. The problem is that because Rapidshare was the first and the original there are a lot of uploaders who still put stuff up on there plus a lot of older content is there so at times you really have no choice but to use it. One things for sure though, I actively avoid rapidshare now, unless there is no alternative. Hopefully it’ll help spell the end for rapidshare and no more links will be uploaded there. JDownloader does help, avoids the hassel of clicking links but doesn’t make the download any faster.

There is a link for me to signup to a premium account, the cheapest option costing 6.99 euros for 30 days just so I can download a free file someone uploaded.
Rapidshare goes against the principle of free sharing on the internet, sure charge the uploaders but dont charge the downloaders. What makes this even more crazy is that you can get a proper webhost account for not much more money maybe 10 euros a year or something and that will allow you to paste DIRECT download links without timers, captchas etc. just simple direct download links.
I did some research as to why rapidshare is so popular, one reason is piracy the other is their refferal system, apperently the uploaders get paid everytime someone downloads a file they upload.

RS made its name while it was completely free. Since it grew I can understand charging a premium membership for certain perks like no ads, no wait times, multi-part downloads, etc. But now they constantly have the message

I would agree with you (minus the cursing) on all parts, but you’re wrong about that last part. 95% of the time, free users CANNOT DOWNLOAD from Rapidshare now. Unless you happen to download during their special “Happy Hour” (yes, that’s what they call it).
If I upload my home-made camcorder video to share with the family, most wouldn’t be able to download it because “there’s no more download slots for non-members”. To think, I used to use RapidShare to send large audio-files within our radio company… now that’s impossible! Even when paying members upload and set their files to “share with everyone”, unless my family and company pay too, they can’t download.
Thus, we conclude, RapidShare is *no longer a public file sharing* site. That it lets you upload for free but costs money to download, is a rip-off to the average user (since there’s 20 other file sharing sites out there with no such pricey constraints). =) Strangely, if you’re seriously into the pirating business, it’d make sense to get an account and download/share with other pirates. But that’s more like an exclusive (pirate-loving) club than a public file sharing site. RapidShare has changed to something the average computer user can never use. You can’t share with everyone, only other paying members.
And that’s why I don’t like RapidShare anymore. There’s no incentive for normal people to use it. It’s only for pirate-lovers who love downloading regularly and are willing to pay for it. =)
Normal people like me can go to Easy-Share, MediaFire, MegaUpload, DepositFiles, etc, or better yet the mass-upload sites like NixPi.com and UploadGround.com.

Rapidshare actually punish you for paying, that’s the worst thing. All the criticisms are true about the free service, but at least it’s free. But then I decided to go premium for a month, ok nice service. But after that month was up, all attempts to download free result in “Unfortunately right now our servers are overloaded”. But if I go to someone else’s house and download the same file, it works. Basically now they know that I might pay, they are not going to let me download for free any more, by the looks of it. Rip off bastards.

Howabout renaming the site NoShare?
Rapidshare has degenerated over time, a victim of its own poularity. They have toyed with various methods of exacting a premium from users, they do need to pay for the equipment and maintenance to keep the service running.
What has happened to make the free service completely useless is quite simple, and I am surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned here. There are people that write scripts to automate the downloading of files from Rapidshare. These scripts will work around the timeouts and waits and will relentlessly pound the system for available free download slots. If you ever get a free slot it is because it is an off-time and there aren’t enough scripts running to consume the free bandwidth, or Rapidshare has changed something that creates an un-handled situation for the scripts. Hotfile beats this whole problem with Capchas, which we all hate, but it stops the scripts.
If anyone is still pissed off about rapidshare and would like an alternative then i suggest using megaupload. Try mulib.net if you need links. They have MU links to everything that is megaupload. Appz, movies, you name it.

I tried to purchase a legal subscription from them last night using a legitimate credit card, and they voided my purchase. Stupid idiotic people. They get a real customer and they void the purchase. How do they expect to say in business when they void purchases asinine idiots.

I think it’s safe to say that everyone here is evaluating rapidshare’s ability to host free downloads. The fact defenders are saying you need to pay rapidshare or use other methods (newsgroups, p2p, etc) pretty much says everything you need to know about rapidshare’s ability to host free downloads (sucks).
The fact there are direct competitors that provide better service (eg. megaupload) is basically the nail in the coffin and makes their position indefensible (unless you’re an employee of rapidshare).

Really hilarious post. I liked Rapidshare until they put this stupid limitation. Now i am trying to download a file of 4 MB for more than 3 hours or so! Like you know, their free slots are “full”:

I recommend Megaupload and MediaFire to anyone! Much, much better file hosting site.
